Stalls at idle

Engine catches and runs but dies at idle, especially at stops or when A/C engages.

Idle is mechanically set on M117 with electronic trim. A stall usually means either no fuel-air compensation (IAC, EHA) or a sudden vacuum leak.

What the diagnosis checks

  1. Does it stall the moment A/C engages?
  2. Does the engine stall only after a long highway drive?

Possible causes it points to

  • A/C idle-up valve / kick-up
  • Fuel pressure regulator leaking warm
  • Idle-air-control valve stuck closed
