Soft top won't go up or down
Top motor doesn't run, runs but top doesn't move, or stops partway.
R107 hydraulic top has a pump in the trunk, three rams, and a chain of microswitches that must each close in sequence. The console switch must be held the entire cycle.
What the diagnosis checks
- Does the hydraulic pump run when you press the console switch?
- Does the top move at all, even slightly?
- Does the trunk light, dome, or boot-cover work?
Possible causes it points to
- Low hydraulic fluid
- Failed hydraulic ram or external leak
- Microswitch interlock open
- Fuse or top relay
