Harsh or late 1–2 shift
722.3 transmission shifts hard, late, or with a clunk at the 1–2 upshift.
722.3 shift quality is controlled by line pressure (governed by the modulator vacuum) and the B2 brake band adjustment. A late, harsh shift typically means high line pressure.
What the diagnosis checks
- Is there strong vacuum (≥ 17 inHg) at the modulator hose at idle?
- Has the B2 band adjustment ever been done?
Possible causes it points to
- Modulator out of adjustment
- Adjust B2 brake band
- Vacuum leak at modulator line
