Transmission slips or flares
RPM rises momentarily during shifts without a corresponding speed increase.
Slipping in 722.3 = low line pressure, worn clutch packs, or contaminated fluid. Check fluid first — burnt smell or dark color is diagnostic.
What the diagnosis checks
- Pull the dipstick warm — is the fluid red and odorless?
- Slipping in all gears, or only one?
Possible causes it points to
- Internal wear — rebuild required
- Specific clutch pack worn
- Burnt fluid — overhaul time
